Why Yoga?

I found yoga more than 20 years ago. I started As a way to manage depression. And found so much more for me on and off the mat. Yoga has been one of the greatest gifts in my life. It has become a consistent, stable, touchstone, that brings me back to presence. The presence that I discovered on my mat, translates, to everything I do. My practice is with me as I love, and take care of my family, it’s with me as I lead and grow this amazing community. Yoga gave me my life’s work. It showed me that who I am is more than enough.

What Inspires You About the HOY Community?

I can say proudly that our team is some of the most beautiful humans. They are gentle with others. And themselves. And have a deep respect for the practice. The whole HOY community for that matter just loves big!! So often as we support one student to have free yoga, another will show up and donate extra money or buy one of our tee shirts. It inspires me to teach a room full of people, moving and breathing, present and focused on creating ease for themselves.

Why Do You Teach?

I can’t think of a better job on the planet!!! Yoga is the vehicle I use to help my students find vitality in their life and in their bodies. Our bodies have a natural rhythm. It has a built-in memory system. We Humans live on a planet that has gravity. Gravity and the stress of life can get heavy at times. The fact is most humans don’t like pressure. So I teach to help my students learn to relieve that pressure for themselves.

What Fires You Up Off the Mat?

I feel most excited when I am surrounded by my husband and our kids. I am constantly studying something. Reading, researching, and working with clients and my team. I love my work!! Love seeing people grow, thrive, and feel lit up about life. Music, good food, and travel keeps life exciting!
